The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed Éric Sékou Chelle as the new Head Coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
This decision was reached during a meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, 2nd January 2025.
The NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee recommended the appointment of the former Coach of Mali’s senior men’s national team. O
n Tuesday, 7th January, the NFF Executive Committee endorsed this recommendation, as revealed on the federation’s website.
Chelle’s appointment is effective immediately, and he is tasked with guiding the Super Eagles to secure a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
The next round of matches (Matchdays 5 & 6) will take place in March.
Chelle, who earned five caps for the Aiglons of Mali and coached clubs such as GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne, and MC Oran, has been the Head Coach of the Aiglons since 2022.
However, he was dismissed as Mali’s manager on 13th June 2024.
