A former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN], Mallam Adamu Ciroma, is dead.
Family sources said the elder statesman died in a Turkish hospital, Abuja, on Thursday after a protracted illness.
He was aged 84.
Mallam Ciroma was one of the founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He was a Finance Minister under the President Olusegun Obasanjo-led administration from 1999 to 2003.
