In his effort to scuttle the aspirations of his erstwhile Party, the PDP and its presidential candidate, the then President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for his explicit long term ambition of being the Nigerian President since 2003, Atiku Abubakar coerced the attention and loyalty of 7 PDP Governors of Niger State (Babangida Aliyu ), Kwara State (Abdulfatah Ahmed), His home State, Adamawa (Murtala Nyako), Jigawa State (Sule Lamido), Kano State (Musa Kwankwaso), and GEJ’s brother, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State.

He did not stop there, but he moved his G7 Governors to the direct opposition to the newly formed APC just to be certain his party, the PDP learns its lesson.

Ironically, today he is faced with a lesser problem he terms as gross misbehaviour. In today’s case, it was clear that the presidential slot should be allotted to the South, given that Atiku’s backed Buhari, a Northern Fulani Muslim is about to complete an 8-year tenure.

Surprisingly, when Governor Wike requested the then PDP Chairman Uche Secondus’ resignation to allow for a northern chairman in anticipation of a southern presidential candidate, it was opposed by guess who? Atiku.

After a spent period of battle, Secondus retired and made space for Ayu as chairman of the PDP.

Atiku Abubakar did not just stop there, he insisted that for him to relinquish his taste for the Presidency, the PDP must micro-allot the presidency to the South East for equity if equity must be honoured. The insult there was that no southern politician had ever proffered a standing order for the north.

Observers believed that Peter Obi, being his erstwhile vice, should have gotten his public support in the party if he was party conscious. But No, Atiku scuttle the same standing order he fought against in 2014 to impose himself with his money as the party presidential aspirant.

Governor Wike and members of the G5 simply asked that since he emerged as the presidential candidate, it was fair to have a southern party chairman, hence the phrase, “Ayu Must Resign”.

Yet, same Atiku, to show case his power over the party he abandoned in 2014, insisted that Governor Wike that kept the party standing in the G7’s absence must be threatened and portrayed as a tout.

Here comes the wisdom to today’s PDP faithfuls.

If Atiku was sincere, why didn’t he put his weight on Peter obi to effect justice and equity? Why impose himself, taking advantage of the disunity of the South?

In truth, between an Atiku and a Peter, who has character, competence, capacity and commitment?

Most of us stayed on the PDP ticket because of Obi’s display of the 4Cs in 2019. But for 2023, we shall stick to Obi.

Today, Governor Nyesom Wike, in his dissatisfaction on the injustice, birthed the G5 comprised of himself, the Governors of Abia, Benue, Enugu and Oyo State.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Prove me wrong!
