Babagana Zulum escapes Boko Haram attack [video]

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, on Wednesday, escaped a deadly attack from Boko Haram terrorists.

ElombahNews was informed that the terrorists attacked his convoy leaving many injured.

Special Adviser to Governor Babagana Zulum on Media, Isa Gusau, said confirmed the incident in an interview on BBC Hausa Service on Thursday.

He said the governor and his entourage crawled on their knees as the Boko Haram insurgents fired at them.

According to Gusau, many of them sustained injuries while trying to escape.

He explained that the governor embarked on a trip to the Baga because the soldiers informed him that they have liberated the town from the hold of Boko Haram insurgents.

Our correspondent learned that the governor while he was on his way to some internally displaced persons camps in the area.

The Special Adviser, who said that he was not in the governor’s convoy, affirmed that Governor Babagana and his team are in good condition.

He said: “I was not there physically.

“The governor was heading to Baga from Munguno because the soldiers told him they have liberated Baga from the control of Boko Haram.”

He explained further that the insurgents opened fire on the governor’s convoy along the way as everyone scampered for safety.

When asked about those in the convoy including the security details and other members of the entourage,, he said:

“They crawled for a distance on their knees. They sustained injuries. The Boko Haram insurgents were shooting.”
