The ban on 2023 electioneering campaign was officially lifted by INEC two months ago. As expected, the good, the bad and the ugly have been unleashed upon us. The noise has began.

Politics of acrimony and campaign of calumny are inevitable among elites bereft of ideas, even amidst their megalomaniac followers. When one is desperate to grab power at all cost, one usually don’t take the stairs. All requisite decorum obtainable among power seekers in sane societies are jettisoned.

Vitriolic aspersions are casted against opponents. Antagonistism characteristic of aquatic animals is prevalent. Territorialism which is a zoological features of reptiles annotates their behavioural patterns. Vendettas, customary of Nazist tendencies lace their body languages. And the throes of survival of the fittest conceptualized by Charles Darwin and expanded by Herbert Spencer as far back as 1864 is replayed with contemporary angst. These defaces our sociopolitical terrain at each election season.

Among all these noises, I wish to bring to our visualization the the clear direction and speak to our people heart-to-heart. This is a very important period in our land for according to the famous American naturalist and philosopher David Thoreau: _“many an object is not seen, though it falls within the range of our visual ray, because it does not come within the range of our intellectual ray, i.e., we are not looking for it. So, in the largest sense, we find only the world we look for.”_

We need to pay attention to every detail that shapes the voting pattern of 2023. As some selfish politicians continue with their shenanigans, we have to avoid distractions.

Let us not forget the one party and its trusted candidates who provided basic social amenities to our generic villages. Let us not forget those who gave Enugu peace and made our parents sleep with both eyes closed in Nsukka land.

Once this delightful narrative pops up, only few names ring in our heads. These are: Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Lawrence, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Executive Governor, Enugu State), Hon. Solomon Izuchukwu Onah — Jack Solo (Executive Chairman, Udenu LGA), Hon. Simon Atigwe representing Udenu/Igbo Eze North at the Green Chambers, Engr. Vita Abba, former State Chairman, PDP vying for House of Reps, Nsukka/Igbo Eze South constituency. These names represent innovative leadership backed by glorious antecedents.

They did it before, they’re willing to do more. All they ask is for your votes and supports.

But oppositions are distracting our serene political environment with their babel of noises. They have started promising you heaven on earth. But don’t forget to interrogate each of their individual motives.

Most of them have failed in their private and public endeavours in the past. None of them has uplifted even a single soul from our clans, neither are they known for integrity.

The emphasis is on why should such persons be trusted with leadership position owing to their desperation. Some of them plainly lost out in PDP and saw a platform in Labour Party when Peter Obi ignited the party. Food is ready politicians. And they forgot that in Nsukka, there are numerous communities who benefited from Enugu PDP, and are ready to reward it with their votes.

The truth is that these detractors, are frustrated politicians who lack honour. They can’t offer what is deficit in them, which is Character. Serial contestants and perennial losers.

That leaves us with the only credible candidates — the PDP team.

Jack Solo as we all know is an accomplished gentleman, who had track records of over two decades in human capital development. He had impacted many young people and the elderly. He is volunteering to represent our dear Local government Constituency in the House of Assembly, Enugu. He has vowed to deliver more dividends if elected.

Since his expression of interest and consequent victory at the primary election, the youths, the elderly and the everyday people of Udenu have seen in his Candidacy, the pledge of a brighter future for our land.

Let us be guided and shun the noisy dust of selfish detractors who masquerade as contestants.

Vote Hon. Solomon Izuchukwu Onah for House of Assembly Enugu State.
