Labour Party (LP) has suspended indefinitely its Kwara State governorship candidate, Comrade Basambo Abubakar, over alleged anti-party activities just four days to the governorship and state assembly elections coming up weekend.

The party also accused Abubakar, a former aide to former Senate President Bukola Saraki, of disseminating misleading information to members of the public.

Comrade Abubakar had, on Monday, announced that Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state resolved to collaborate in the March 18 governorship elections.

He added that the union was expected to birth a collective dream for a prosperous Kwara state.

Reacting to the claim, the Labour Party chairman, Comrade Kehinde Rotimi, while addressing reporters in Ilorin, debunked the claim.

Comrade Rotimi said that the party had not aligned with any governorship candidate or political party in the state for the Saturday governorship elections.

According to him, the suspended Labour Party governorship candidate acted against what the party stands for and has no authority to announce the alignment of the Labour Party with any party in the state.

Rotimi enjoined members of the public to disregard the statement credited to its governorship candidate.

He stressed that all House of Assembly candidates of the party are still in the race and urged voters to vote for Labour Party on Saturday. Read more.
