Operatives of the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps arrested a 28-year-old ex-convict, Faremi Ojo, for threatening his family’s lives and attempting murder.
The arrest occurred on Monday, February 17, 2025, in Ilupeju-Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area, after a formal complaint from his brother.
According to the complainant, Ojo had terrorized his family and community since his release from prison.
He had previously served time for trading human parts for money rituals, which heightened concerns about his actions.
Reports reveal that Ojo’s violence escalated dramatically, including allegedly strangling his father.
He also broke into his brother’s residence and stabbed him in the head with a screwdriver, further endangering lives.
He is also accused of attempting to harm other family members before fleeing the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that Ojo terrorized the community by brandishing dangerous weapons like cutlasses, knives, canes, and incantation horns believed to be charmed.
His actions instilled widespread fear among residents, disrupting peace and security.
Amotekun operatives swiftly responded to the complaint and successfully arrested the suspect.
They transported him to their Ado-Ekiti headquarters for thorough questioning to uncover the motives behind his actions.
During interrogation, Ojo confessed that frustration drove his behavior.
He cited his family’s refusal to fund a freedom ceremony required at his workplace as the primary reason for his violent outbursts.
Authorities handed over Ojo and the recovered weapons to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Ekiti State Police Command. This transfer ensures proper legal procedures are followed in addressing the case.
Investigations are currently ongoing to ensure justice is served and community safety is restored.
Authorities remain committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting residents from further harm.
