COVID -19 : Akeredolu’s Wife, Aides Test Positive

Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, wife of Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has been tested positive for COVID-19 two days after her husband was confirmed to have contracted the virus.
According to Sahara Reporters, A source in the government confirmed the news on Thursday.
The source also revealed that some security aides to Mrs Akeredolu also tested positive for the virus.
“Unfortunately, her (Mrs Akeredolu) result came back positive with some of her aides today.
“Health officials have advised them to quickly go on isolation and I am sure they have taken the advice.
“So, for now, we don’t expect the governor and his wife to be seen in public places because we are in danger with the rising cases in the state.”
Commissioner for Health in the state, Wahab Adegbenro, died of the virus on Thursday.
The Governor Governor Akeredolu had announced in a broadcast two days ago that he Tested Positive to the COVID-19 two days ago.
About two weeks before Governor Akeredolu tested positive for COVID-19, he attended a political event without wearing a mask or observing social distancing, and sneezed at least once, a video has shown.

The footage, first published by Sahara Reporters, showed Mr Akeredolu surrounded by a crowd of supporters as they sang together.
Akeredolu was seen in the video encircled by about a dozen of uniformly dressed party members, all unmasked, chanting his praises during which he sneezed in his palm.
Mr Akeredolu, who is seeking reelection in the Ondo governorship election coming up in October, was at the All Progressives Congress secretariat in Abuja to submit his nomination form at the time the video was shot.
Earlier that day, June 16, Mr Akeredolu was also at the State House to inform President Muhammadu Buhari about his intention to seek a second term in office.
The governor, on June 25, also meet the Ondo State Council of Obas where he was reportedly endorsed for a second term in office.
Although the governor had on Tuesday said he was asymptomatic to the disease, many have worried about the likelihood of him spreading the deadly virus.
Akeredolu had directed all members of the state’s executive council to undergo compulsory COVID 19 test to determine their status.
