Again, fuel tanker bursts into flames in Jigawa
A tanker laden with petroleum product, on Wednesday, burst into flames at the Jigawa-Kano border in Northwest Nigeria.
The situation reportedly caused widespread panic among bystanders.
Mr Aliyu M. A., the spokesman of the Federal Fire Service in Jigawa State, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
At the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire remains unclear.
Also, officials are yet to provide details on any casualties or property damage.
Firefighters swiftly responded to the scene to arrest the raging blaze and prevent further escalation.
Residents have been advised to steer clear of the area to ensure their safety while investigations are ongoing.
However, Aliyu while confirming the incident said, “On November 12, 2024, at approximately 10:43 hours, the Federal Fire Service received a distress call from Kuho Village Head, Zubairu Ahmad, regarding a tanker accident at Tsaida, Kwanar Kalle, near Gamoji village along Maiduguri Road.”
“The FFS responded promptly, arriving at the scene at 10:50 hours. The fire was contained and brought under control,” Aliyu added.
Meanwhile, the development comes one month after a similar incident in October, resulting in over 170 deaths.
