Adamawa Lawmaker, Hon Hassan Barguma Faces Recall

The Lawmaker representing Hong Constituency in the Adamawa House of Assembly, Hon Hassan Mamman Barguma is facing a recall threat by a group of Youths coliation under the leadership of Sheriff Waziri.

According to Waziri, INEC is to release voter’s register for Hong constituency on Tuesday 24th April, 2018, for the recall on the Member representing the area (Hong).

Sheriff had earlier submitted an application to INEC on 12th April, 2018, demanding for the voter’s register to recall their member whom they described as being mortgaging their mandate

“The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the State had assured us that the voter’s register will be available on Tuesday for them to proceed with the recall process.” Sheriff Said

Meanwhile, another group under the umbrella of Hong Youth Movement has passed a vote of confidence on the representation of Hon Barguma.

The leader of the group, Dahiru Usman while addressing journalist at the premises of the State’s assembly complex, said that their area have never had a lawmaker who is representing them well like Barguma.

Dahiru disclosed that the feats is making in the House are not only for the growth of Hong constituency but in the generality of the State.

”His hard work is making him a strong voice to reckon with in the house.

“No wonder his steady growth in politics is fast noticeable as he grew from Chief whip to majority.

”He is a man with probably the highest Numbers of laws and many bills waiting to become laws.

”The resolutions and contributions he is making in the house is making us proud and we are not regretting to have him as our members and we not waste time in bringing him back to represent us again.” Dahiru Said

On the recall process, another spokesman of the coliation and a concerned citizen of Hong, Mr Samson maspalma expressed confidence in INEC for accelerated procession of their submission, demanding the voters register for the recall process,

Samson opined that there is high anxiety in Hong, particularly the constituents, who had voted for the Lawmaker as the entire people of Hong are regretting to have voted for him as their representative.

He said that there is high level of incompetent represention and lack of dividends of democracy by the embattled lawmaker.

When contacted, the REC, Barr Kassim Gaidam said INEC will provide their demands in line with the constitution provisions and electoral acts 2010, but advising the youths to employ dialogue which according to him is critical in the Democratic dispensation.

Recall that the house during its recent session recommended for the removal of the Provost of the College of Education, Hong, Dr Pongri Johnson.

The situation is such that some citizens of Hong accused Hassan Barguma of financial mismanagement.

The action triggered political lugger-head in Hong, leading to recall process of the lawmaker.

Chairman committee on budget and appropriation,Hon Abdulrahaman Isah said those waging war for the recall of Barguma are enemies of Adamawa state.

Isah revealed that Barguma is a valuable asset whose intelligence in the house is enviable and has done well in delivering dividends of democracy.

Isah who is popularly known as Mr integrity advised Hong constituents to hold Hassan in high esteem because of his credible contributions in the floor of the House, saying he remains one of the vibrant lawmakers who is doing well to grow the state in the path of progress.

All efforts to contact the embattled lawmaker was futile as his phone lines were all the time showing ”busy”.

Unconfirmed sources, however, said he described the recall process as a fruitless ventures by people who do not want change and prefer odd fashion of doing things in the state.
