Adamawa Govt Gets $1m To Fight Corruption In The State

Adamawa State Government has received a million dollar grant to improve on structures to enable it fight corruption in the state.

Commissioner of Justice Barrister Bala Sanga disclosed this during a seminar on zero tolerance for corruption in tertiary institutions of learning held at the Multi purpose hall of Adamawa State University in Mubi.

Barrister Sanga explained that the present administration adhere strictly to provisions of the budget to ensure transparency and accountability.

He urged management of the school to set up a procurement unit and check financial rules and regulations are adhered to and urged the staff and students of the institution to support the current leadership of the institution.

While warning those with frivolous petitions, the commissioner pointed out that transparency attracts large funding as a reward.

In a remark, Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Comrade Ahmad Ibrahim Sajo described the institution as a citadel of learning and assured that government is doing everything possible to make it one of the best in the country.

He said the current effort has restored integrity and academic excellence leading to infrastructural development by the Bindow led administration.

Comrade Sajo urged the institution to take it as part of corporate social responsibility to embark on research to address issues like the outbreak of cholera in the area.

Speaking in an interview, Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta said the public lecture was meant to sensitise the staff and students on anti-corruption initiative of the present administration and the need to inculcate good virtues for growth and development of the institution.
