The wife of Abia State governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has assured that justice must be done in the case of the woman, Mrs. Esther Ibemecha, whose fingers were cut off by suspected Fulani herdsman.

Mrs. Ikpeazu gave the assurance during her visit to the victim at the General Hospital, Aba, on Saturday.

The Abia first lady sympathised with the victim and assured of justice, saying:

“I just came back and heard about what happened and I decided to come. The governor has said that government will settle your medical bill.

“l am therefore pleading with the hospital management to do whatever it can do and be assured that government will take care of everything.

“I know that the man who did this is already in custody and government is not keeping silent.

“Something must be done to see that we don’t have this kind of thing again,” she said.

On her part, the Chief Executive, Hospital Management Board of Abia State, Dr. Ngozi Nduka, said that there are plans to mobilise specialists to restore the severed hand.

It will be recalled that a suspected herdsman, Salisu Garuba, had allegedly attempted to cut off the head of Ibemecha.

Garuba, however, cut off her four fingers in the process.
