The chairman of George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN), Dr. George Uboh has  stated that the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami [SAN], or the Nigeria’s Swiss lawyer, Enrico Monfrini will go to jail over recovered General Sani Abacha’s loot.

Erico Monfrini

Dr. Uboh stated this in a press  statement he made available to ElombahNews on Sunday against the backdrop of the contentious issue regarding whether Monfrini recovered the $321m Abacha loot in Switzerland.

Monfrini claims he has recovered; that Malami is lying; and that he charges Nigeria 4-5% for recovery.

Malami, on the other hand, claim that Monfrini has not recovered, that Monfrini wants to charge Nigeria 20-30%, hence appointed two lawyers to do the job in Nigeria for $17m (5%).

To that effect, the foremost whistleblowers has written an FOI request to Malami on Friday, September 14, 2018 to produce the letter of engagement given to attorneys Okpeseyi and Adebayo on the Abacha loot (see attached).

Uboh, however, expressing skepticism, said that GUWN does not expect Malami to comply but assured that Malami will be dragged to court in such event.

He mentioned that GUWN has some secret documents on the dealings between former AGF Adoke and same Swiss lawyer Monfrini.

The documents, according to him, detailed the percentage Monfrini charges Nigeria, and that GUWN will produce them when the suit is filed.

He said: “This will be a huge scandal when GUWN drags Malami, Monfrini et al to court.

“Once the civil proceeding reveals the party that has defrauded us, that party will be shamed and prosecuted.

“Nigerians should not forget that part of my allegations against the EFCC [Economic and Financial  Crimes Commission] during the 2015 senate hearing that led in part to Lamorde’s sack was that 95% of offshore seizures don’t make it back to Nigeria.

“GUWN has the documents,” he assured.

George Uboh has always been at the forefront of fighting “the hydra-headed monster in Nigeria called corruption”.

Some officials that have gleaned sorrows from his efforts include former EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde, former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, et al.
