One Mr Johnbosco Edeh, an Anambra born businessman based in Lagos, but who also holds British citizenship has been arrested in the United Kingdom by the police for allegedly raping his wife, stealing her money and trafficking their young children.

This was disclosed by attorney Emeka Ugwuonye, the founder of Due Process Advocates (DPA), a human rights advocacy group with it’s headquarters in United States.

Ugwuonye said the man was arrested at the airport on Sunday morning when he tried to enter the UK.

According to the Harvard trained attorney, the suspect will be facing criminal charges for raping his wife, stealing her money, and trafficking their teenage children.

While narrating how he was arrested, Ugwuonye said, “You will remember this case. We posted it here three months ago.

“The man is a Nigerian and also a British citizen. He married a young girl from his home state of Anambra and took her to the United Kingdom. Soon after they got there, he began to maltreat her. He wanted to turn her into his slave. Yet she didn’t complain. However, he realized that the British legal system would not allow him to treat his wife as he wanted.

“One day, after their second child, the man told his wife that his parents in Nigeria were having their golden jubilee and they would all be traveling to Nigeria for that for four weeks. The woman, pregnant with their third child, gathered things for just a four-week trip.

“Immediately they arrived in Nigeria, the man seized the passports of his wife and their children. He told her: “Now, I will make sure you will never return to the Uk”. The whole trip was a trick. There was no jubilee planned. He left the woman stranded. He took her phone away. He left her and the children in their village. He then traveled back to the UK and cleared her bank accounts by forging her signature and he took her certificates and credentials and burnt her clothes.

“Then he returned to Nigeria where he continued to torment the woman, beating her often and raping her, which was how he got her pregnant with the fourth child.

“After six years of sheer torture, the lady escaped and with help of friends found her way back to the UK. Then she began to seek justice. She asked around and she was referred to DPA. She wants her children with her. She wants the money taken from her bank account back. DPA looked at the facts and the man’s movements. Petitions were then filed both in Nigeria where he lives and in the UK where the woman is.

“The man is rich and would always bribe the police in Nigeria. So, we had him watched both in the UK and in Nigeria. This morning, he tried to enter the UK and was arrested at the airport. He is facing criminal charges for raping his wife, stealing her money, and trafficking their children. We got the news earlier today. He is in police cell in London being interrogated as we make this post.

“We are happy with this development. I’m in the United States at the moment. DPA lawyers in Nigeria have been placed in a state of heightened alert to assist the British authorities in their investigation. DPA is now the only organization of its kind with the capacity to start a case in one country, follow it up in another country and get the suspect arrested in yet another country. There is no hiding place for those who abuse the rights of others.”
