Fire on Sunday gutted the home of former governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau.
The fire outbreak reportedly damaged the living rooms of his third wife, Halima Shekarau.
Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, the spokesman of the NNPP chieftain, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
He said that the fire erupted on Sunday evening from the inner kitchen of the house, which was on the ground floor of the multi-million naira mansion.
He said, “We thank God the fire only affected one of Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau’s living rooms and already men of the State Fire Service had successfully put off the fire.”

Meanwhile, the image maker of the State Fire Service, Mr Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
He however, declined further comment on the cause of the inferno, adding that things are still being put in order.
“We are still at the house and you know I cannot comment on anything now because we are still trying to make sure that the fire didn’t spread to other places”, he added.
