Uzodimma appoints self commissioner for lands in Imo

The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has appointed himself as the commissioner for lands in the state.

He disclosed this at the government House in Owerri, during the swearing in ceremony of his commissioners and Special Advisers, SSA, among others.

Though, the reason given by the governor was that in the last appointment, it was greeted with so much corruption and problem over land issues in the state.

According to him, the self-appointment is a drastic measure taken to prevent a repeat of past incidents.

Speaking during the ceremony, he said, “I have just performed my official duty of swearing in the members of executive council. I want to congratulate on your well deserved appointment.

“I want to tell you oath taking is a serious act that places a lot of responsibilities on you. Therefore the public will be watching you from now henceforth to conduct yourself in a most dignified manner only those who persevere will trioff.

“The appointment of those that will work with me is still ongoing, more appointments will be made and more swearing in will be made. So, Imo expect a lot from you. I recall, during the retreat I explained a lot of things expected of you and I warned you to stay off corruption that will destroy the image of this administration.

“I have set up a monitoring unit in my office to monitor your office and any score below average must be regarded as a failure. There will be quarterly performance assessment on you and there will be no excuses. We must leave a legacy of prominence. We will work harder than what we did in first term.”

“I will be in charge of the ministry lands that has caused a lot of confusion and corruption. We will sanitize the land system in Imo state.”

Uzodinma sworn in into office, 24 commissioners and 16 Special Advisers.

They include, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Cosmos Iwu, Chief of Staff, Nnamdi Anyaehie, Deputy Chief of Staff, (General Services) Deputy Chief of Staff, (Admin) Patrick Ekeji, Deputy Chief of Staff (operations), Emeka Agbo, Head Political Bureau, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, Chief Press Secretary, Oguike, Nwachukwu, also the Commissioner for Information, Public Enlightenment and Orientation.
