The Nigerian Peace Corps Establishment Bill, earlier passed by the House of Representatives on 29 February, 2024 and transmitted to the Senate for concurrence was read on the floor of the Senate and passed through first reading.

In light of this, the Senate will soon consider a motion for concurrence, which will be moved by the Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central), allowing the Senate to adopt the Bill in accordance with the National Assembly’s extant laws.

Recall that the bill was passed in the 8th Assembly but could not get presidential assent.

Also, along with the Peace Corps bill, the Nigerian Hunters and Security Service Bill 2024, the Legislative Houses (Powers & Privileges) Act (Amendment) Bill 2024, and the National Talent Rehabilitation and Integration Agency (Establishment) Bill 2024 were all passed by the Senate for first reading.

Others are Agricultural Research Council Act (Amendment) Bill 2024 and Agricultural Harvest and Processing Zone (Establishment) bill 2024.
