How could you rely on intimidation, violence, murder, destruction to win election after 24 years in power? Igbo elders in Lagos ask APC
A group of Igbo elders in Lagos gave a well articulated and rendered press conference today ahead of the governorship election coming up on Saturday, March 18.
The highlight of the press conference was the catchphrase: ‘How could a party that has been in power for 24 years rely solely on intimidation, violence, murder, destruction of lives and properties, et al, to win election?’

An observer, J. C. Okechukwu, a filmmaker, media consultant, actor and author, after taking cognizance of the political developments in Lagis, noted:
“Are Igbos in Lagos so powerful? Why is it that every time there’s fear of vote swings in Lagos, people start threatening Igbos? Yorubas in Lagos voted Peter Obi more than Igbos in Lagos, hands down! Some Igbos equally voted Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Now, to take taxes from Igbos and then dictate to them who to vote makes Hitler look like a joker. A majority of Yorubas are against this. Because there’s no rivalry between Igbos and Yorubas. I can confirm this to you.
“Anyone semblance of rivalry you see out there is manufactured in a rundown “old order” factory. But we’ve moved on from that old order. We’re matching onto a New Place as one people – Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Efik, Ijaw, Ibibio, etc. Speaking with ONE VOICE. You will not divide us.” Read more.
