Over 6 civilians were reportedly killed and 26 others abducted in separate attacks on Sabon Gida Libere, Ungwan Ganye, Ungwan Nabara, and Kadi communities in Kauru local government area of Kaduna State.
Aminu Khalid, a survivor, reported that the bandits stormed Sabon Gida Libere on Monday, killing one person and abducting 23 others. Additionally, three people were killed in Ungwan Nabara.
Khalid noted that many villages are now deserted due to the continuous attacks.
The criminal elements are believed to be operating from a camp in the Agwala forest, located on a hill near the Libere community.
“The affected communities have yet to establish contact with the bandits, but many villages are deserted because of incessant attacks. The bandits have their camp close to the Libere community called the Agwala forest on top of a hill. Most communities are deserted, and those in the surrounding villages cannot access their farmlands,” Khalid said.
He urged the government and the military to clear the forest where the terrorists are hiding to restore confidence among the local communities.
Police authorities in Kaduna State are yet to issue a statement in respect to the development.
