5 killed as Tiv, Fulani clash in Taraba

Five civilians have been killed following a violent clash that erupted between Tiv and Fulani communities in Taraba State on Saturday.

The conflict according to Dailytrust occurred in Maraban Azagwa, located in the Maihula area of Bali local government area.

Sources revealed that the clash was caused by the death of a Fulani man at a local beer joint owned by a Tiv man.

Relatives of the deceased Fulani man accused the Tiv community of being responsible for his death, which resulted to a serious confrontation.

Following the face-off, five individuals lost their lives, and several others were injured on both sides.

NewsBand gathered that the situation in the area has since calmed after the deployment of police forces.

The spokesman of the command in Taraba, DSP Kwache Gambo confirmed the unfortunate incident but gave a different figure of casualties.

She noted that two people were killed and several others injured. Those injured are currently receiving treatment.

The police image maker also mentioned that operatives have been deployed to the area, and the situation is now relatively calm.
