4 killed in auto crash on Ore-Ijebu Ode expressway

Four travellers were killed and eight others seriously injured following a devastating auto crash on the Ore-Ijebu Ode expressway.

The fatal crash which occurred at RCC Ogbere around 2pm on Monday, involved a white Toyota Hiace bus with the registration number XA690AKU.

According to the image maker of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, 18 people were involved in the accident.

The cause of the accident has been attributed to driver fatigue and loss of control.

Okpe said, “A total of 18 people were involved, comprising eight male adults and 10 female adults. Tragically, one male adult and three female adults lost their lives, while four male adults and four female adults sustained serious burns. The remaining passengers were unharmed.”

The injured victims have been taken to the state hospital in Ijebu-Ode for treatment, and the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, FRSC Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin has urged motorists to prioritize rest before embarking on long journeys, recommending drivers take a 15 to 30-minute break after every four hours of driving to avoid accidents caused by fatigue.
