26 injured as Ukrainian councilor throws grenades during meeting

On Friday, a Ukrainian village council member threw grenades on the floor during a meeting.

The meeting was live-streamed on Facebook, where onlookers could hear explosions and screams at the incident that took place at council headquarters in Kerets’ky.

At least 26 people were wounded.

Footage shows the man entering the room during a heated discussion about 90 minutes into the meeting.

He then stands next to a door for around 30 seconds before tossing three grenades into the middle of the room.

“As a result, 26 people were wounded, six of whom are in grave condition,” police said in a statement, adding that medics were trying to resuscitate the man who threw the grenades.

A terror investigation has since been opened by the Ukrainian Secret Service (SBU).

The national police have also opened a probe into the illegal handling of weapons
