Two years ago, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, made a rare demonstration of egalitarian leadership, when he convoked a fraternal congress — Odimma Nsukka Unity rally. It was the first of its kind, and gave Ndi Enugu North a novel platform to have a têtê-a-têtê with their son — the governor.
One of the notable dividends of the one-day zonal convention was redefinition of viable roadmap for Enugu North senatorial district.
A day after, a certain Jude Eze from Ugbabe clan of Obollo, in Udenu LGA authored a personal solicitation to the governor begging for the rehabilitation of the Okpakerekere-Umuitodo Ulo-Ibenda-Obollo Eke road. The essay was widely circulated in the dailies and social media spaces. Unknown to both the author and his followers, there had been plans by one of the illustrious sons of Obollo, Hon. Solomon Izuchukwu Onah (current Chairman of Udenu LGA), more famously known by his childhood moniker — Jack Solo, to salvage the road.
Hon. Solomon in his character as a silent achiever had meticulously hatched a plan for a comprehensive state intervention on the road project. Way back in 2015, he had sponsored an aerial view of the road. In his two stint as Commissioner for Lands, and Commerce, he submitted multiple proposals on placing the project under RAMP, and later NEWMAP schemes.
Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in his magnanimity accepted the proposal, and gave approval for appropriate departments to enrol it under the next round of World Bank assisted project scheduled to commence by April 2023, with the state’s counterpart funds made available.
All these, he did without a single publicity. Not everyone blows their own trumpets. Jack Solo is allergic to praise singers. His conscience, much more than his ego drives him in public offices.
While this schedule is being awaited, some selfish interests masquerading as social advocates sponsored their media warriors to discredit the efforts and innovative leadership provided in this direction by Hon. Solomon.
It is election season, and obligate opposition politicians has gone back to 2020 to dig out the said essay written on the road to score cheap political points. But their hatchet job was dead on arrival. In a poorly scripted article, Labour party psychopaths under the pseudonym of Obinna Ijere Campaign Organization tried to gaslight our people against Hon. Solomon Onah.

Solomon is the consensus candidate of PDP for House Of Assembly Udenu Constituency. He has the blessings of Udenu Elders-of-thought, the working class, the traders, traditional rulers and everyday people of our towns. His emergence was seen as a just compensation for his competence represented in the efficient leadership he has provided in both past and present capacities.
So seeing that they had nothing to market their unpopular candidate, the motley of opposition parties in Udenu latched unto cheap blackmail against the people’s chairman. Their target was to pitch his reputation against the people. Campaign of calumny has begun in earnest. But such falsehood can’t sail far in the waters of reality before truth overtakes it. Hon. Onah, like Abraham Lincoln, is “a firm believer in the people.” He believes that “if given the truth, the people can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.”
Ndi Udenu have known the facts, they can’t be dissuaded by irrationalities, nor will they be given to inanities.
Udenu had never been plunged into political impasse as these few propagandists wish it. That’s why the local government retained its nickname, “Home of Peace.” Our leaders have always allowed the will of the people to prevail.
Just like Publilius Syrus: “art has a double face, of expression and illusion, just like science has a double face: the reality of error and the phantom of truth.” In this case, when the naysayers pulls off the veil of error that is covering their sight, they will see the corporeal reality: “Jack Solo is our choice!”
