10th NASS: Deception, betrayal in Izunaso’s DNA, Imo leaders of thought warn Senators-elect

Eminent Imo Leaders of thought in the Nigerian Civil Society and Third Force Movement have warned senators-elect of the 10th Senate to avoid electing Senator Osita Izunaso in any of its leadership positions because of his antecedents.

The leaders of thought slammed the Imo West Senator-elect claiming that he allegedly betrayed former governors Achike Udenwa and Rochas Okorocha— and not in the good books of Governor Hope Uzodinma.

The Imo leaders of thought in a statement signed by Prince Hilary Ibekwe and made available to newsmen accused businessman, Chief Emeka Offor of bankrolling Izunaso’s ambition of becoming the next Senate President to prevent the 10th Senate from investigating the activities of his Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), urging the senators-elect not to commit political suicide by trusting Senator Osita Izunaso.

The leaders of thought said Izunaso lacked the moral right to occupy any position in the 10th Senate because deception, betrayal, nepotism, desperation and hypocrisy runs in his DNA.

The statement read in part: “We as Imo Leaders of Thoughts are surprised that some senators are associating themselves with a character like Osita Izunaso. We can pardon them because they are not from Imo state. Senator Izunaso is a leopard that its spot cannot be changed. He cannot be trusted because deception, lies, cheating, betrayal, hypocrisy runs in his DNA. We urge the senators-elect to make their findings by asking Senator Rochas Okorocha or even former governor Achike Udenwa.

“This is someone that criminalised the position of the National Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) when he held sway. His Excellency, John Odigie Oyegun is alive to testify about this character. He introduced bribery, corruption, impunity and serial abuse of office to that position of NOS.

“We, as Imo citizens do not want further embarrassment from him, hence, it is imperative we inform you all ahead to avoid him by rejecting him either as Senate President or Deputy Senate President. He is being sponsored by Chief Emeka Offor to protect the activities of his business especially Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), which has left the entire South-East in blackout.

“Izunaso has no known business outside deceiving people in politics. He is neither here nor there. You can see he has already betrayed Governor Uzodinma in less than three months of his election. It is in his DNA to pay his helpers with bad— and this character should be avoided for good,” the statement said.
