The Adamawa state Muslim Pilgrim welfare Board has discovered Scammers, Salau Idi and many others who for the past three years have been defrauding many
intending visitors to Kaaba in Medina.
The Chairman of the Board, Engr Umar Abdulrahaman Bobboi revealed that many people are falling into the trap of these defrauders who specialise in cheating people mostly from the surrounding Local Governments, taken the advantage of how people are trying to fulfil the holy obligation enshrined in the Quran with their money.
Bobboi discovered these shoddy deals immediately he became the new Chairman of the board, blaming the schedule officers of the affected LGAs as collaborators of the crime that has been existing in the board where racketeers enjoys cheating the villagers year in year out.
In order to curtail the situation, Umar introduced the use of indemnity forms to the LGAs, sending prior notices to all concerned persons and the use of customised bank tellers.
“When I reported as the new chairman of this board I discovered many intending pilgrims are being defrauded by people that we don’t even know in connection with Hajj seats, we are blaming the affected LGAs’ schedule officers who are not our staff; they are loyal to their LGAs chairmen serving as the middle men to any intending visitor and this board”. Bobboi said.
A victim of Salau Idi scam, Galma Alhaji from Lamurde LGA narrates his ugly story that the scammer for the past three years collected his Money with a yearly assurances of visiting the Holy Land but all to no success.
But when he visited the board on hearing a list of names was pasted in the notice board of those travelling, to his surprise again his name was not there and there and then he alarmed the authority of his concerns.
Abdulrahman vowed to allow the rule of law have its full force on anyone that is guilty of any allegations to serve as a deterrent to any that thinks he can cheat people and get away with it
He assures that 1,922 Adamawa indigenes are to be soon air lifted to Mecca for their spiritual exercise as enshrined in the Quran.
